One Direction Inspires the Return of Burger King Chicken Fries?

August 12, 2015

NEW YORK (AP) — The return of chicken fries at Burger King may be fueled in part by a tweet by Liam Payne of One Direction that he may not have even meant. Burger King chief marketing officer Eric Hirschhorn says chicken fries saw a surge in social media mentions after Payne tweeted last year, “I’m so fulllllll!!! Think I just ate my body weight in chicken fries and sides owwwwww.” However, chicken fries were not available yet, so it’s possible Payne meant he ate chicken and fries. Payne’s representative says the singer is not available for comment. The surge in social media mentions for chicken fries also could conceivably be traced to a January 2014 Buzzfeed post titled, “35 Foods From Your Childhood That Are Extinct Now.”
