Here's this morning's challenge question: Researchers who work with shape analysis at Florida State University have concluded that we perceive THESE to have a personality - and that can contribute to our behavior in and around them. What?
It's CARS.
We look at the cute ones (say, for example, a Volkswagen Bug) less aggressively than those with a stronger, sleeker design. Maybe it even affects who gets tickets and who doesn't, who inspires road rage and who doesn't - see for yourself:

Connie was inspired this morning by the traffic on the Sagamore Bridge - she came up with the right answer as she was sitting in it! And that's earned her lunch or dinner at the Lobster Claw on us.

Here's this morning's challenge question: According to research out of the University of California at Berkeley, the more you do THIS the more friends you're likely to have - and you're more likely to be a better lover, too. Do what?
It's BLUSH!
Apparently, those of us who redden easily are viewed as more humble and vulnerable - and that makes us endearing to others, according to the study.
Dave says he's a blusher - I'll bet he turned red when I told him he'd won a $30 gift card to the Lobster Claw with his guess!

Here's this morning's challenge question: According to the Center for Injury Research and Policy in Columbus, Ohio, the number of children being treated in U.S. emergency rooms in relation to THESE has more than doubled over a 20-year study period. What?
It's BATTERIES - and 84% of those cases had to do with the swallowing of small button batteries. The greatest number of visits involved toddlers just a year old or younger.
The super team of Jim and Donna put it together this morning, and will celebrate over lunch or dinner at the Lobster Claw on us!

Here's this morning's challenge question: The average one of these is designed for only 180 days of use, according to a leading manufacturer. Average what?
It's not your toothbrush (replace that every THREE months - sooner if you have gingivitis, says the ADA!) - it's a BRA!
(Insert gasp here. I think I have one left from high school that I just can't bear to get rid of... sounds like justification for some shopping to me!)
Melissa got it right this morning - she's won a $30 gift card to the Lobster Claw.

Here's this morning's challenge question: According to the CDC (Centers For Disease Control), the incidence of this in U.S. adults is 27% lower than it was 10 years ago. What?
It's HIGH CHOLESTEROL.
Apparently, we've all been eating better, exercising more, and those of us that are on cholesterol-lowering medications are finding them effective, too - it's not as prevalent as it used to be.
A bit of good news for your Friday morning - and Ken starts his weekend on a happy note, too, with a $30 gift card to the Lobster Claw.
Congratulations to all the Grand Prize winning moms in our Mother's Day contests as well - we were happy to brighten the weekend for a few very lucky moms. It'll be an especially happy mother's day for Sabrina Yates from West Yarmouth, winner of the Stress Relief Spa Package from the Beach Plum Spa (she won by attending Mom's Nite Out at the Cape Cod Mall last night); Diane LeRoy of Sandwich, who was nominated by her son John in our Hannoush Jewelers "Why Your Mom Matters" contest; and Andrea Camelio form Marstons Mills who won 12 consecutive monthly cleanings from the Merry Maids for her mom, Jacquie, in our "Sparkle and Shine" contest. Thanks to ALL our amazing prize providers, including the Green Spot, who brightened all our qualifying moms' day with $25 gift cards for flowers and plants!

Here's this morning's challenge question: A survey by Visa shows that the average family with teens will spend just over $1,000 on THIS this year - that's up almost 33% from last year. On what?
It's the PROM.
Here's the breakdown Visa came up with:
-
$20 - $200 for tickets
-
$25 - $130 for dinner
-
$30 - $200 for hair and nails
-
$100 - $400 for a gown, suit, or rental
-
$30 - $125 for photos
-
$200 - $400 for a limo
Our winner this morning, Patricia, said he daughter was very practical in her approach to Prom 6 years ago - she borrowed a dress from the theatre department and scored raves - while saving a pile of money!
Patricia will save a little money herself this weekend - she can eat out at the Lobster Claw on us.

Here's this morning's challenge question: In an unpublished study, men working out on stationary bicycles while smelling THESE burned more calories than those exposed to neutral odors. What?
The answer's STRAWBERRIES.
The founder of the Smell & Taste Research Foundation in Chicago says that the smell of peppermint and hot buttered popcorn also produced positive results when it came to burning calories (don't know about the craving inspired by smelling all that popcorn, though - couldn't that be counterproductive??)
Congratulations to Karen, this morning's winner - she's headed to the Lobster Claw in Orleans with a $30 gift card from us!

Here's this morning's challenge question: As of August 1st, you won't be seeing THESE at Massachusetts schools any more. What?
Have you heard this yet? The answer is that PTO fundraising staple - the BAKE SALE.
Here's an article that explains:
http://www.patriotledger.com/features/x43410552/State-health-department-wants-bake-sale-ban-in-schools
Ellen, who says she's baked about a million cupcakes in her lifetime to help fund field trips and school programs, heard this on the news - and got in first with the answer this morning to win a $30 gift card to the Lobster Claw in Orleans.

Here's this morning's challenge question: According to Universal Studios, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, this is the only one of its iconic movie monsters never to kill anyone. Which monster?
It's THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.
This was just one of 100 "fun facts" that Universal released in celebration of its first century. A few others:
-
The cake in the movie Sixteen Candles is made of cardboard.
-
The final speech by Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird was done in one take.
-
The diner in the movie The Sting is the same diner interior used in Back to the Future.
-
The working title for “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” was “A Boy’s Life.”
-
The word “dude” in “The Big Lebowski” is used approximately 161 times in the movie.
Check out the full list at http://www.deadline.com/2012/04/universal-pictures-hits-100-today/ - fun stuff!
Joanne got the answer first this morning - she's won a $30 gift card to the Lobster Claw.

Here's this morning's challenge question: A new survey reveals that American women are racking up more of these a day than men - what?
It's HOURS WORKED IN A DAY.
In this survey by software recruiting firm Bullhorn Inc., 54% of women reported working, on average, at least a 9-hour day - as opposed to only 41% of men.
Dawn says this isn't the case in her household - now she'll be able to treat her hard-working hubby to dinner at the Loster Claw with the $30 gift card she's won.
