Why/how did you choose a career in radio?
Because I've been told all my life that I talk too much - figured I might as well put it to work!

My journey in radio began accidentally. I went back to school when my youngest was in first grade - and discovered oral communication. During one summer break, I decided to see what it was like to work at a radio station by interning (that's right - no money!!) for a summer. That's all it was supposed to be. But I fell in love with the whole works, and was blessed enough to be surrounded by people who were kind enough to teach me what they knew. I kind of... took to it. That was 10 years ago - the summer never ended!

What do you like best about your job?
The people I meet and get to talk to on a regular basis. I have made the most wonderful friends... and I was even introduced to my husband through my very first on-air partner! And the music. Work that centers around the music I love... a dream come true.

How long have you been a resident of Cape Cod?
Since I was 5. I don't remember too much before that. And if you think I'm going to say how many years ago that was, forget it!!

If you relocated to the Cape, where did you grow up?
Grew up in Yarmouth! Graduated from D-Y. This is home!! I have no desire to ever work anywhere else.

What are some of your favorite activities?
I live for a good book and the quiet time to read it. I also love biking with my husband (we've been end-to end on the Kancamagus Highway in NH once, and to the top and back twice. A very hard climb - but on the way down, you don't have to pedal for 4 AND A HALF MILES!!), travelling - anywhere (my favorite trips so far have been to Germany, Paris, and Phoenix), and I am, I confess, a video game addict of sorts - word games help me waste hours of time that I probably should be spending cleaning my house. My favorite - Spelldown (found on Yahoo games.) My highest score to date is 5025 - e-mail me if you beat me!!

When not at work, where would you be most likely found?
At home - I like my family best!! When we get away, it's usually to the White mountains.

Words of wisdom:
When Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Clean the house.

Favorite quote:
"Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana." - Groucho Marx

Would you like to share any additional information with our listeners?
Ah, my family. We are a very goofy bunch. There's my husband, Rob, who is perhaps the funniest human being alive, and the best dad I know... then there's my 17-year old son, who comes in at #2 on the funny scale. They have a lot in common - including a talent for playing the guitar and composing music... then there are the girls - the 8-year old, who has a beautiful smile, loves to sing, and shares with me a love for reading and those computer games; and the 7-year old, who has an infectious giggle and finds a reason to say, at least once a day, "This is the best day EVER!" I also have a bright, beautiful 20 year old daughter who recently moved across the country to see what life was like on the West Coast. I miss her like crazy - but love that she did it! We also make room for the cat (her name is Rosie - but my husband inexplicably refers to her as "Shlunky Monkey Chili Chiquita" which makes no sense, but must mean something because she worships him) and 2 hermit crabs (they're FASCINATING! We named 'em Dave and Eddie, homage to the only true incarnation of Van Halen.)

When I'm not hanging with that crazy bunch, I treasure any chance to be involved with the Special Olympics. The volunteers, coaches, and organizers - and the athletes!! - are such a devoted, compassionate group of people - they're the best! I am also a huge believer in working with kids in the public schools, especially if you have kids yourself. Even if it's just in a small way - a half hour a week - there's nothing like having your child see how important their school is to you - it impacts how they see going to school in a very positive way, I think... and gives you a real close-up of the people who teach your kids, and shows you how they experience each day. Plus - you make wonderful little friends.
