LOS ANGELES (AP) — Akon is hoping his fans will bypass the usual ways of listening to music and give his Stadium app a try. Akon says he’s got about 200,000 pre-orders for his app, which will come out in the next few weeks. Users will have to put up with ads, but the more they interact with the app, the more songs they unlock. Akon says record label politics kept him from releasing music, and he just kept making more and more. He says his app will include a world music album, an urban album, a house music album and a pop album. He’ll also release the pop album through traditional outlets as a way to drive traffic to the app.
