NEW YORK (AP) — There’s a reason why Cyndi Lauper has been covering up so much in the past few years: she dealt with a severe case of psoriasis. Lauper tells People magazine it started in 2010 with a scalp irritation, but within two years she had scaly skin over her entire body. She says at times she was so weak, she couldn’t get out of bed. She even lost her singing voice for a while. Lauper still doesn’t know what caused it, but she’s been treating it with prescription medicine, Epsom salt baths and medicated creams. She also has cut sugar, alcohol and strawberries from her diet. Lauper has now partnered with the National Psoriasis Foundation to bring attention to the condition and its remedies.
