Director Defends Taylor Swift Video

September 3, 2015

NEW YORK (AP) — The director of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” video says he chose to be historically accurate rather than politically correct. The video is set in 1950s Africa and shows Swift as an actress who falls in love with her co-star. Critics say black actors are seen only from a distance. Director Joseph Kahn says they collectively decided that putting more black actors in it would have been “rewriting history.” He says the video was produced by a black woman and edited by a black man.
