NEW YORK (AP) — An organization that sponsored two anti-cigarette ads during the MTV Video Music Awards is blasting MTV for the show’s many marijuana references. Miley Cyrus ate pot brownies with Snoop Dogg in a skit, lit up with friends in another, took a selfie and asked people to say “marijuana,” sang the song “Dooo It!” that referenced marijuana, and passed a lit joint to photographers backstage after the show. Kanye West also admitted that he “rolled up a little something” before taking the stage. Eric Asche of the Truth Initiative says it’s understandable for viewers to be confused by the mixed messages and he’s “extremely disappointed” with MTV. An MTV spokesman says the network is declining comment.
